Supporting school leavers in 3 key ways
1. School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES)
Our popular SLES services are all about preparing school leavers for the workforce with the skills and experience they need to gain long-term meaningful employment. During a friendly and fully supported two-year program, they will get to explore a wide range of potential career options and gain valuable training and work experience in the industry of their choice. We can also assist with relevant qualifications, including inhouse and external study programs as required.
Your 4-step SLES journey
PHASE 1
Build the skills
Building your career starts by building your skills. Each week we provide you with opportunities to learn practical new workplace skills in the areas that interest you.
Time Management
PHASE 2
Gain the qualifications
Additional qualifications can improve your job prospects. We offer a range of formal courses and programs to support your path to employment.
Some training is delivered in-house by guest presenters, while other courses are provided through our external training partners.
PHASE 3
Build work experience
Work experience helps you prepare for employment. We work with you to find real-world placements in your chosen industry, so you can explore different roles and responsibilities before entering the workforce.
Individual placements
One day a week for six weeks, or another arrangement that suits you
Multiple work experience placements each year
Full support from your Youth Consultant to help you get the most from each opportunity
PHASE 4
Find the job
Once you complete your SLES training, you’ll be ready for the next step in your employment journey.
You can then move into our Disability Employment Services (DES) program, where we continue supporting you to find and keep a career that suits you.
2. Improved Social Skills
Meeting new people is not always easy, but it is an important skill. Our programs help school leavers feel more confident in social settings by offering safe, creative ways to try new activities and build meaningful friendships. Participants can enjoy fully supervised group outings with other young people, and we regularly introduce new programs to keep the experience fresh and engaging.
